Who we are
As a psychologist and a human being, I am someone who wants to help you become the person that you want to be. I truly want you to live your best life in the way you want to live it. I also understand that the journey to get there is difficult and there are many obstacles in the way. My job is not to make the journey for you but to help you better navigate the obstacles. My own journey has led me to this as my second career and I am so grateful for the opportunity to help others. As the wonderful Mr. Fred Rodgers said, “All of us, at some time or other, need help. Whether we’re giving or receiving help, each one of us has something valuable to bring to this world.”
If you are curious about the name of my practice and the symbolism behind it, please see below for a bit more information.
Why Lilacs and Ravens?
Both Lilacs and Ravens are important to my culture and where I come from. Who we are as people should be embraced and celebrated and I refuse to shy away from do so. I truly believe it is our differences that make us stronger as a whole.
Lilacs represent renewal and rebirth and can be associated with resilience due to their ability to thrive in some of the harshest environments, returning each spring. They are the perfect representation of the human spirit and the ability people have to continually grow and thrive, despite experiencing harsh conditions.
Ravens represent many things in ancient myth and folklore including both memory and logic. The practice of Psychology is both a science and an art in which memory and logic are studied and are central to healing through evaluation, diagnostics, and therapy. Ravens serve as a reminder of both the art and science of the practice.
